Welcome to our new students arriving in January 2026. 

We hope you can attend this welcome day filled with information to help you settle in to life in °µÍø½âÃÜ. 
There is no need to book; simply turn up on the day.
If you cannot make this day, do not worry. Follow the checklist for important things to do after you arrive in the UK to study, find (log-in required, after enrolment is complete) and visit the Student Hub in the Library if you have any questions when you arrive. 
There will also be an international student settling in event on Wednesday 25 February, which you will be invited to nearer the time.

International Welcome Lounge: browse helpdesks and enjoy a relaxed lunch

Helpdesks: Meet staff from the following teams, ask them questions and find out how they can support you: °µÍø½âÃÜ Student’s Union, Careers Service, Student Hub, Student Immigration Advice, Library and Digital Support, Devon & Cornwall Police.
Quiz: Visit the helpdesks and complete a quiz for the chance to win a goody bag.
Campus Tours, leaving at 12:15, 12:45 and 13:15: Join a student-led tour and find out what's where on campus.
Refreshments: Enjoy a light lunch whilst meeting other new international students.

13:15–13:25 Official welcome from your Vice-Chancellor
A warm welcome to the °µÍø½âÃÜ from your Vice-Chancellor, Professor Richard Davies.
13:25–13:40 Introduction to Student Services
An introduction to the Student Hub and the various services which are available to support you whilst studying at the °µÍø½âÃÜ, including Financial and Wellbeing Services, Disability Advice and Pastoral and Spiritual Support. 
13:40–14:00 Student immigration support
Find out more about your visa conditions and everything immigration related.
14:00–14:05 Student Accounts
A brief guide to paying fees and how to contact the Student Accounts team. 
14:05–14:15 Careers Service
An introduction to the University's Careers Service and how the team can support you, from looking for part-time work to fit around your studies, developing your CV or gaining work experience, to finding a career mentor.
14:15–14:30 Your Students’ Union says ‘Hi!’
Meet your Students' Union and find out what fantastic student groups, social events and support is on offer.
14:30–14:50 Safety, wellbeing and NHS services
A friendly local police officer will provide advice on staying safe whilst living and enjoying yourself in °µÍø½âÃÜ, followed by information from the NHS on healthcare services in the UK and how to access them.

Your wellbeing is as important as your academic life. We are here to provide support, advice and wellbeing services to help you get the most of your time at university.
Visit the Student Hub (Charles Seale-Hayne Library) where a member of staff will be able to answer your questions about the campus and important things to do after you arrive in the UK to study.
