International engagement enables our research at the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ to directly tackle global challenges that affect us all. By working in partnership with international colleagues around the world, we have advanced our impact across a diverse set of fields. Whether shaping climate change policy or discovering groundbreaking medicines, the aim of all our international work is to have a transformational impact and make a positive difference to our planet and its people.

The IRO has a variety of support resources and funding schemes to help the global research community and our prospective partners understand and navigate the international research landscape.

Dual PhD scheme
A dual PhD is awarded jointly by two or more degree-awarding universities in partnership, giving students the opportunity to work with resources and faculties in multiple institutions. This type of study can provide extended career opportunities around the world, a broader academic impact, and a global perspective on research.

If you are an international student who would like to apply for one of our postgraduate research degrees, it's likely that you will need a valid Student visa to study in the UK.
