Overview

This course consisted of a two-day in-person workshop, where learners developed the skills required to calculate their business' carbon footprint, but also the knowledge required to plan next steps and share their carbon commitments with stakeholders.
Working in small groups with like-minded businesses, they learned about the drivers for creating an organisational footprint, gain awareness of standards for calculating emissions and discover the data needed and where to find it. They also explored the jargon around net zero, myth-busting and greenwashing.
Learners had time between sessions to gather information from their organisation, discover where their challenges are in data collection and any knowledge gaps, and bring them back to review with experts in Carbon Footprinting.
In the second session, they learned how to access global emissions databases to calculate their carbon, identify hotspots within their organisation and develop a roadmap for manageable actions in the short, medium and long term, including how to get buy-in and communicate effectively internally and with wider stakeholders.

What learners could gain

Climate change is an urgent global issue, and businesses play a crucial role in mitigating its impact. By transitioning to net-zero emissions, organisations can significantly contribute to global climate goals while reaping benefits such as reduced operational costs, enhanced brand reputation and future-proofing against regulatory changes.
Calculating your carbon footprint provides you with a baseline of where your emissions are coming from, enabling you to take targeted, impactful and measurable action.

Who was the course for?

Learning outcomes

This training went beyond calculating carbon. Learners could gain the confidence and ability to take action, reduce their impact and positively convey their plans to their customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
Attendees could learn how to:
  • identify their business' carbon hotspots
