Ruth Atkinson, lecturer in Primary Education, is working with the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Music Education Hub, Wren Music and local special schools on a new research project set to start in September 2021.
ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Music Education Hub have secured the funding from the Paul Hamlyn foundation. This will enable musicians from Wren to lead a series of music sessions in each of the seven participating schools.
The project has a dual focus: to investigate the impact of music on pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and to investigate the impact of a musician-led intervention strategy on staff in the participating schools. Ruth will lead the evaluation of this second aspect.
WrenÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™s music projects are scheduled to take place in the autumn term of 2021 and the spring term of 2022.
