The Joy App
An effective ecosystem of support built on human connection
An EPIC project
I think itÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™s exciting to see the scope that social prescribing offers through the ability of tech to better measure activity now and therefore make the wider economic case around what potential that it unlocks, and that in turn, I think, will help change the Treasury appetite for programmes which were given lower priority in the past.
Joy is really invested in the wellbeing of the social prescribers themselves, ItÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™s not just about being able to work more efficiently ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ“ they believe that if youÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™re able to work more efficiently, if youÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™re able to do your job the way you want to, that will impact how you feel about yourself and your general wellbeing. ThatÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™s the overall ethos of Joy and what theyÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™re trying to achieve.

Social prescribing in GP surgeries in particular is growing. WeÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™ve got a really good solution that weÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™ve built already and that weÂÌñ»»ÆÞ™re making even better to make it a really game-changing service GPs provide to their patients. The results are good ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ“ surgeries see a 20-35% decrease in surgery attendance after they refer patients to services. That works out to about six appointments fewer per patient per year, on average.
The EPIC team have been great; really professional, and they really helped frame what we needed to get out of it and helped make things happen. They conducted a lot of research for us, which was amazing.
