Small Ships Business
An introduction to the day to day operation of the essentials of maritime law that allow vessels to operate through different ports and sea areas worldwide whilst taking into account environmental concerns. This module gives the foundation information that students need in order to be compliant with both national and international legal requirements.

Ocean Passage Planning and Global Weather Systems
This module equips the student with all of theoretical skills necessary to allow them to plan, navigate and manage sailing a yacht across the world’s Oceans. There is the opportunity to gain the RYA Ocean Yacht Master Theory in addition to this module.

Yacht Purpose and Design
This module introduces the principles of design theory and methods given the purpose of the vessel. It focuses on the different requirements needed by yachts to enable them to meet a variety of purposes, showing how differences in design can greatly effect performance characteristics. It also explores the basics of assessing seaworthiness for a given situation
CORF2016
Research Project
This module will enable the student to acquire research skills, in order to plan and implement a pilot study into a research topic of the individual’s personal interest. The research topic must be relevant to the studies carried out in the FdSc Operational Yacht Science
CORF2017
Leadership and Management
This module enables the student to gain an appreciation a range of management and leadership theories that apply directly to the current working practices in yachts. Students will study both traditional methods and more current methods of this topic to allow their thinking to explore what sort of future manager and leader they wish to become
