Core modules

HIGH3302
Teaching Physical Education

This module examines the current curriculum provision in Primary and Secondary schools and what effective Physical Education looks like. Students will develop knowledge of the key components of Physical education and have the opportunity to observe and deliver lessons in both Primary and Secondary settings

HIGH3305
Advanced Exercise Programming

This module examines the concepts, design and delivery of an effective programme with the objective of improving fitness components and indirectly performance of athletes. It will explore the main themes of fitness components, periodization, performance requirements, individual requirements, assessment and reflection.

Sport Leadership聽and Management

This module explores leadership and management within sport organisations. Students examine leadership theories, management functions, governance, and organisational culture, applying theory to real-world sport contexts. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, people management, ethics, and strategic leadership in contemporary sport environments.

Dissertation

The Dissertation module enables students (1) using a qualitative, quantitative or mixed approach to research a complex issue relating to the sport, health, physical activity or education and (2) to demonstrate understanding and skills to appropriately use analytical and decision-making tools. This module will demonstrate the student绿帽换妻檚 ability to apply their skills to a major piece of independent academic work.

Applied Sports Coaching

This module examines the delivery of effective applied coaching practice, underpinned by coaching and learning theories. Students will develop an understanding of how effective coaching fits into the stages of Long Term Athlete Development. It will include the delivery of coaching sessions, critical evaluation of a coaching programme and include the development of a personal development plan

Tuition fee price changes

In November 2024, the UK Government announced an increase to tuition fees and maintenance support for 2025/26 academic year, setting the standard tuition fee and student maintenance loan at 拢9,535 per year and the University绿帽换妻檚 tuition fees were increased to this rate.

The UK Government has indicated that further fee increases may be announced this year and in subsequent years. If the UK Government does so, the University may increase annual tuition fees in subsequent years, which may include the fees for the 2026/2027 academic year, in line with the Student Contract and all times in line with the maximum tuition fee caps set by the Government.
