The British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) is part of the BCNO Group. BCOM (London) and ESO (Kent) offer a BSc (Hons) Osteopathic Medicine, with the option of further study to gain an MSc Osteopathic Medicine. BCOM also offers BSc (Hons) Osteopathy for those looking to study alongside existing work and family commitments.
BCOM and ESO are known for providing a broad and inclusive osteopathic education, with a team of experienced and dedicated faculty, staff and tutors.   • Year 1

  • The PgCert Osteopathic Sports Care provides osteopaths a structured pathway that leads to a formal qualification. 
    The programme will provide knowledge and skills required for the management of sporting injuries within clinical practice and on-field.
    A wide range of osteopathic approaches will be included and the faculty comprises of experienced osteopaths who work within the sports care field.

Entry requirements
MOst, BSc Ost, DO, or equivalent. 
You must be working as an osteopath, and be registered with the GOsC (or the equivalent in your country). 
Work experience
You must be working as an osteopath. 
You must have a valid First Aid Certificate.
Interview
Each individual application will be assessed by the Admissions Team and all applicants who fulfil the admissions criteria will be invited for an interview.
Independent Safeguarding Agency (ISA) / Criminal Record Bureau (CRB)
If you are wishing to attend children’s or vulnerable adult’s sports clubs, you will be required to have Enhanced DBS checks.

Assessments

Learning outcomes will be assessed via:

a) Coursework essay: For example: Critically review your management of a sporting injury – 1000 word essay, fully referenced.

b) Viva Voce: A 20-30 minutes viva voce when candidates will be requested to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. For example: case-history taking skills, taping/strapping.

c) Work-based learning/reflective log: You will be required to complete 50 hours of observation/shadowing of experienced sports care practitioners and log their experience. This log will be assessed and will be awarded either a pass or refer.
