About
I am a senior lecturer and course leader for the Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice course offerings at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ. These include the Foundation Degree, the BA Top-up and our exciting new BA in Education - Supporting Inclusion and Wellbeing. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Special Interest Groups for Inclusion and Social Justice, as well as Early Years.
As well as having lived experience of neurodivergence, I have worked with students with a variety of learning disabilities over my teaching career, which has encompassed teaching a variety of subjects to students from the early years to older adults.
I am currently studying for my Masters, and my focus is providing safe and supportive learning environments for neurodivergent students. I am passionate about spreading the message that all teachers can make a difference to the learning experiences that their students have, sometimes just by making small changes. Recent projects include co-leading a pilot project funded by the Network of Equality Champions. We have co-produced an audit tool which can be used to make the learning and leisure environments at Kingston Hill more neuroinclusive.
This now forms part of the University's Neurodiversity Toolkit. I lecture across different University departments about neurodiversity in order to spread awareness, which is a strand of our project.
